Act

We must advocate for increased regulation that safeguards both environmental/health goals and the aviation industry.

Change doesn’t happen overnight, but with time and collaboration, meaningful regulatory improvements are achievable. Regulation doesn’t mean immediate bans on the sale of 100LL, which would restrict a large number of aircraft and set a dangerous precedent. It’s crucial that we don’t jump the gun on regulations; instead, a measured and calculated approach will ensure a smooth, sustainable transition to unleaded fuel.

Financial incentives and fuel subsidies, already offered by local governments at some airports, are effective in reducing the financial barrier to an unleaded transition. Financial support is often a more feasible and realistic request of governments than complex regulations. By easing the financial burden, these incentives make the switch more manageable for certain operators.

How to get involved

Advocating to Local Government

You can make a difference! Reach out to your local government officials and attend city council meetings to advocate for change. Educate your friends and family about the harmful effects of leaded avgas, and rally your community to take action together.

Contacting Airport Management

One way to drive change is by reaching out to your local airport’s management. Ask if they’ve considered offering unleaded fuels and share your concerns. Encourage airport officials to collaborate with local government and to connect with us at info@gounleaded.org for support.
